Project Summary

As a subcontractor to EA Engineering, LRI is currently executing the cleanup of OU2 under EPA Region 3 Superfund. This site has a long history of contamination in soils, groundwater, and wetlands from manufactured and painted china operations dating back to the 1900s, leaking lead and solvent-laden sludge, to a decades-old unlined lagoon and drainage into the nearby creek. The site was added to the Superfund National Priorities List in 2005 after investigations found high levels of lead concentrations in sediments.

LRI’s scope includes site clearing 27-acres of wetlands and flood plain utilizing our Amphibious Excavator with tree shearer attachment, excavation of over 200,000 tons of source materials, dredging of creek sediments from Oxbow Lake and Beaver Pond, water bypass system to direct flow away and out of active work areas, installation of drainage features and earthen dikes to direct flood waters, stabilization of wet soils and sediments, off-site disposal of non-hazardous contaminated waste, loading of hazardous waste into gondola rail cars, water management and treatment of impacted surface water, backfilling, topsoil placement, planting and seeding of these 27-acre wetlands and restoration of affected work areas.
