Project Summary

LAND Remediation, Inc. (LRI) has been a trusted partner on this site since 2014, beginning with support to the design engineer in completing a 700 CY In-Situ Stabilization (ISS) Pilot Study that was utilized to design the full-scale remedy at the site.

In 2017, LRI advanced remediation efforts through an Interim Remedial Measure (IRM), removing 250 CY of MGP impacted surface soils. In spring 2022, LRI was engaged to support excavation and backfill operations due to environmental impacts in the soil for the installation of a 3,000 LF high-pressure gas main. Importantly, during the first phase of the full-scale remedy, LRI introduced an innovative onsite crushing plant to reduce offsite disposal volumes. This allowed 13,000 CY of subsurface historical structures to be removed, demolished, crushed, and repurposed as structural fill beneath the clean surface cover cap, achieving both cost efficiency and sustainability goals.

From 2022 through 2025, LRI has executed three additional phases of the full-scale remedy. This extensive scope includes the excavation, and offsite transportation and disposal of 91,000 tons of contaminated soil, ISS of 82,000 CY of MGP impacted material, and installation of a 195,000 SY surface cover cap system. Additional scope items included dewatering, water treatment, and discharge of treated water. To maintain access throughout the work area, LRI constructed a full-size detour at King Road, with complete roadway reconstruction delivered at project completion.
