Project Summary

LAND Remediation, Inc. (LRI) was awarded this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project to perform maintenance dredging in the navigation channel near the Port of Coeymans. The operation focused on Reach 17–19 (River Mile 132) to restore navigability by removing approximately 57,000 CY of shoaled sediment. The work was executed within strict in-water work windows (Sept. 1 – Nov. 30) due to environmental compliance requirements. Sediment was mechanically dredged and transferred via hopper barge to a hydraulic offloading system, which moved material nearly half a mile upland through pipeline infrastructure rising more than 50 feet above river elevation to the Houghtaling Island Placement Site. During dredging, crews encountered and navigated around significant subsurface debris, adjusting operations without schedule delays. LRI also executed bed-leveling operations to maintain target channel elevations efficiently, helping shorten the dredging timeline.
