LAND Remediation, Inc. was awarded two sequential phases of work at the Barnum Landing site in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The first phase focused on environmental remediation across three areas along the waterfront, including complex shoreline restoration within tidal conditions.
Along the eastern shoreline, crews removed metal slag, excavated impacted soil, and installed geotextile fabric with a layered riprap system to reinforce the shoreline. A concrete retaining wall and a new 48” RCP sewer outfall were also constructed to support future site development.
At the central portion of the site steel sheet piling and concrete pile caps were replaced along with the installation of a new sewer outfall and slope stabilization through debris removal and riprap stone placement.
The third remediation area included construction of a new steel sheet pile bulkhead, temporary excavation support for PCB-contaminated soil removal, classification and off-site disposal of both TSCA and non-TSCA soils, and full restoration and backfill.
