This roughly 8-acre section of the property along the Amawalk Reservoir had historic use as a trap and target shooting area. Due to proposed redevelopment for a future single family residential home subdivision, remediation of soils exceeding the Site Specific Soil Cleanup Objectives for unrestricted use were addressed for primarily lead contamination.
LAND Remediation, Inc. segregated soils and excavated at various depths throughout the site into 250 CY stockpiles for stabilization. Each stockpile was treated for metals using Enviroblend™ to render soils suitable for non-hazardous landfill disposal. All material intended for off-site disposal was screened to remove large rocks, reducing disposal costs, and screen tailings were washed and re-purposed onsite. In addition to the remediation scope, LRI implemented protection and preservation measures for a historic rock wall located onsite, ensuring its integrity throughout construction.
Post-excavation sampling and analysis confirmed compliance, and the site was restored to original grades with clean, imported common fill, topsoil, and reestablished vegetation across impacted areas. The completed work prepared the property for future redevelopment while preserving its historic character.
